Terriqon’s mobile app is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — it runs in any modern browser, installs directly to the home screen of any Android or iOS device, and works in full without a network connection. Field officers can open a form, fill it in, capture GPS coordinates and photos, and submit data in areas with zero signal. When connectivity returns, everything syncs automatically. This guide walks your field team through installation, form access, data capture, and offline workflows.

Installing the Terriqon PWA

No app store is required. Your field officers install Terriqon directly from the browser in seconds.
1

Open terriqon.com in Chrome

Launch Chrome on the Android device and navigate to terriqon.com.
2

Tap the three-dot menu

Tap the (three-dot) menu in the top-right corner of Chrome.
3

Tap Add to Home Screen

Tap Add to Home Screen, confirm the name, and tap Add. The Terriqon icon appears on the home screen like any other app.

Logging In and Accessing Forms

On first launch, your field officer logs in with the email address and password they set when accepting their invitation. After logging in:
  • Assigned forms appear as cards on the Home screen, grouped by project.
  • All assigned forms are cached locally during the first online session. From that point on, forms are available even without a network connection.
  • Any form updates published by a manager are downloaded automatically the next time the device connects to the internet.
Log in and download forms while online before going into the field. The app cannot load new form updates without a network connection. Make sure your team connects at least once before travelling to low-signal areas.

Filling In a Form

1

Tap the project or form name

From the Home screen, tap the form you want to fill in. The form opens in full-screen mode.
2

Fill in each field

Work through the form from top to bottom. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*). The app will not let you submit until all required fields are completed.
3

Capture GPS coordinates

For GPS fields, tap Capture Location. The app reads the device’s GPS and records the coordinates. This takes a few seconds outdoors.
GPS accuracy is best outdoors with a clear view of the sky. In buildings or dense cover, tap Use my best available location to proceed with the most accurate reading the device can provide.
4

Add photos

For photo fields, tap Take Photo to open the camera directly, or Choose from Gallery to select an existing image from the device.
5

Review and submit

Tap Review to see a summary of all your entries before sending. When you’re satisfied, tap Submit.
6

Offline — Pending Sync

If the device has no connection when you tap Submit, the submission is saved securely on the device and shows a Pending Sync status. No action is needed — it uploads automatically when connectivity returns.

Offline Submissions and Syncing

Terriqon stores offline submissions in the device’s local storage using encrypted on-device caching. No data is lost if the device is restarted, the browser is closed, or the battery dies before syncing. When the device reconnects to the internet:
  1. The app detects the connection and begins syncing automatically in the background.
  2. Each pending submission is uploaded and confirmed by the server.
  3. The submission status updates from Pending Sync to Synced in the field officer’s Submissions tab.
Field officers can check their sync status at any time by opening the Submissions tab and filtering by status. If a submission fails to sync (for example, due to a server error), it remains in Pending Sync status and retries the next time the app is opened online.

Saving a Draft

If a field officer starts a submission but needs to stop and return to it later — to gather more information, take additional photos, or confirm a detail — they can save a draft at any point:
  • Tap the Save Draft button (available in the bottom toolbar while filling in a form).
  • The incomplete submission is saved locally and appears in the Drafts section of the Submissions tab.
  • Tap the draft to reopen it and continue where you left off.
  • Drafts are not submitted and do not appear in the project’s submission count until they are finalised and submitted.
